Blending Fashion and Business: Flora Miranda’s Journey with Konsultori Academy trainer

Nov 11
We spoke with Flora Miranda. She is an Austrian fashion designer who's redefining what it means to wear clothes in both real and virtual worlds. Based in Antwerp, her designs aren’t just about fashion—they're about self-expression, pushing past the usual limits, and focusing on how we experience the world through our bodies and senses. Flora’s work takes fashion to new dimensions, letting people truly embody who they are without being tied down by traditional rules.

In this interview, she shares her experience with her business, her design journey and creativity, and what she gained from Konsultori's trainer – Petra Wolkenstein.

Interview:

Hello Flora. Hope you are well today. Can you tell me more about your business?

Yes, I am quite fine. Well, as a designer, my work revolves around pushing the boundaries of fashion by exploring the relationship between the human body, technology, and virtual reality. I’m fascinated by how we perceive ourselves in both physical and digital spaces, and my goal is to strip away traditional limitations in fashion. For me, clothing is more than something we wear—it's a medium for self-expression and a reflection of a multi-dimensional personality. Through my designs, I aim to create pieces that let people express their true selves, free from conventional constraints.

How did you hear about Petra and how did she help your business?

While creativity pulses through my veins, I have always harbored a fascination for economics. Yet, in my entrepreneurial pursuits, I found myself speaking a distinctly artistic language, not necessarily conductive to the business world's expectations. Petra's coaching enabled me to bridge this gap, adapting my creative values to meet the demands of the business environment. I have learned to appreciate the importance of profitability and setting boundaries to optimise my time and resources effectively. However, I want to note that Petra's guidance triggered a period of introspection for me. While Petra's advice enhanced my business acumen, I was grappling with the potential loss of innocence and enthusiasm that comes with prioritising financial success over the purity of a creative endeavour. This balance takes internal effort. Inubating my drive for ideas and at the same time screening my activities for economic success. Today I see the added business knowledge not only as a benefit to my business, but also to my clients as I can think along with their professional needs in a sharper way.

And what did you learn?

Petra showed me different perspectives on my financial planning, including how to calculate market size, prioritize certain client groups, and optimise professional activities.

That must be valuable knowledge to implement in your business. What do you cherish about her?

I have gained the impression that Petra has experience across various business domains. Not only from the perspective of the founder but also the investor or client. This multifaceted understanding allows her to empathise with the coachee while providing an outside perspective. I experienced Petra's coaching style as precise and efficient, making optimal use of time to deliver guidance. Quick in seeing the business potential, she also addresses weaknesses in the current activities but always keeps a positive outlook.

What do you say about Petra's training methodology (motivating critical thinking, creative approach, modern presentation, industry knowledge...)

Petra employs different templates tailored to topics such as financial planning, market analysis, and target audience profiling. Leveraging her network, she actively facilitates connections with relevant individuals and resources. Petra's versatility shines through in her approach; rather than adhering to rigid industry standards, she draws inspiration from various sectors, fostering dynamic and adaptable advice and ideation. While Petra's expertise may not align precisely with every industry, she excels in guiding clients to connect with the right resources and conduct effective research.
